Last night to Portland for the launch of the website for the Oregon Encyclopedia project just beginning. Valentine’s day is also Oregon’s birthday, in this case the 149th. Next year the Oregon Encyclopedia, with the contributions of material from Oregonians all over the state, will be published on the 150th anniversary of our statehood–February 14th, 2009!!! Last night there was a gala event at the Oregon Historical Society and Roger, as an editorial board member, took part in the program. I only got my camera out to record a beautiful evening in the city as I looked out the window.
As we were in the birthday mode, we went to Zach & Lynn’s to celebrate Lynn’s birthday (not anywhere even CLOSE to 149th). She had a big surprise waiting from Zach:

I got a sort of sub-standard coffee this morning, but it WAS good, even tho not very pretty.
