Today Lorraine and I drove up to the Santiam River to visit Lorraine’s friends Cynthia and Jim Wilcox. Cynthia is a quilter and generously toured us around the art-filled house and showed us the river view (sunny today, and beautiful).
Then–and best of all–the studio.
Cynthia pointed out the last quilt she made from a “pattern” (that would be “someone else’s pattern”)
and then moved to pointing out quilts she’s made since–quilts with creative cutting, joining and patterning.
Then–amazingly–she served us some apple cake, artfully decorated, and we talked of the Gee’s Bend ladies, Hawaii, iconography, photography, Wolf Kahn and drank some coffee.

Her quilts are fabulous! I like best the ones that are asymmetric, especially the Klimt-like one at the upper right. And the apple cake looks scrumptious.
How, you chose my favorite–she’s really doing interesting things.
