Oh yes. LOTS of coffees (even though in many places they were 2E or even 3E (about $3 or $4.50 each, depending on where you were). And that’s for a single shot of espresso or a very small cappucino–not a big American latte. But, well, it’s ITALY. One reason to go is to sit on a beautiful piazza and have a coffee. So, the coffee highlights would include the following:
The regular–around-various-towns coffees:
Cortona Cafe and the Umbertide revival coffee (after the Martin Daykin death march hike)
restaurant in Firenze and the morning cappucino at the Hotel San Luca, Cortona
Prato cappucino and the rather fantastic display of sugar packets on the counter. xxoo Italia
Group coffees:
Cortona right before a swift pooped on my drawing book, coffee and budino in Fielsole.
These three at Scudieri near the Duomo and Baptistry in Florence.
The prettiest coffees:
These were in a little cafe across from the train station in Terantola, Roger, Read and me. These are called “etched” coffees (in the coffee world) and in this case the “etching” was with chocolate.
