After the ride four of us headed down to Mullan, Idaho, in search of a tall cold beer. Years ago George and Jennifer lived in Mullan for a year or so, and George was pretty sure the Outlaw Tavern was still there. It was and we ordered 4 pints of draft beer, total price $4.00! (Think we’d pay $4 for ONE beer at home.)
After our libation we walked around greater Mullan and noted a few things on interest including:
Swallows’ nests under the eaves of the old bank building–now a weaving studio,
a cool building that might not still be there on our next visit, and..bliss…
a quonset hut (and you know I LOVE Quonset huts…). We drove back to Wallace to do a drive-by of the Hull homestead–224 Cedar ST–home to 4 generations of Hulls beginning in the 1920’s
then drove up King Street up and up into the mountains where we saw a sign that seemed odd to me as we weren’t near any streams,
and down then into Avery, again on a old railroad grade taking us through many tunnels:
The next day was family family family and MANY different activities which included some of the following:
rafting on the St Joe, trampoline for HOURS!, horse shoes for even more hours, riding ATVs.
On our last morning we saw a deer and a good-looking young man–Garrett Wade–who had lost TWO teeth in the same week. I love vacation.
