Working on the wedding ring “dismantling” this morning has put me in touch with everything China said about cut and sew-cut and sew, and also the more over-reaching aspect of making any kind of art work. How do we know what color to use, which fabric to choose, when a painting or collage or quilt is really done? This morning, anyway, I think I’d answer “When it pleases my eyes.”
Next week at Project Space I’ll see if I can sew all these random things together and make something, then on to collage.

The odd bunch of fabrics in these pieces are so charming. There’s nothing you could do that wouldn’t please my eye. And, as Sally says, “Don’t think, sew.”
