Well the fog and mist of the morning kept the guys away until noon. Then began the long process of preparing the dirt to take the sod. We went off to do errands and came by mid-afternoon to check the progress: Home about 5:30 to find the sod just being spread out and the stepping […]

The New Lawn, Day Four/Evening
Well it rained all day. They needed a three hour window to lay the sod, but it rained all day. We arrived home at 6:00 to find the dirt spread and the sod delivered, but no new lawn. Tomorrow maybe??
New Lawn, Day Four, Morning
At the end of the day yesterday the holes were all filled in and there is a big pile of dirt out there. It rained all night and it looks like the day today is “the perfect day to lay sod” as my visiting Aunt Pat said. Roger and I are off on an adventure […]
New Lawn, Day 3
The guys got an early start this morning and when I went off about 11:00 they were making progress. Wayne says it’ll be all done tomorrow and we’ll have a lush green lawn. Hard to imagine!! (And I’m pretty imaginative) (I should have told them to divide those lilies.)
New Lawn, Day Two
Home after dark today and the crew and the light had flown. It kind of looked like a Christmas candyland with red tape and white pipes:
The New Lawn
Finally even we got tired of the dirt-with-a-few-weeds front lawn we’ve had for several years. The suggestion from a friend of a good guy to do the job pushed us over the edge so this week–sprinkler system and new lawn go in. Yesterday was removing the old lawn (hooray!!) and digging the trenches. Today is […]
Marie Watt and Ford Hall

The building was built with funding from major benefactor Hallie Ford and her portrait (by Portland artist Paul Missal) hangs in the lobby: Today, though, I wasn’t there to attend the ceremony, but rather to join artist Marie Watt’s […]
A Very Miscellaneous week…
Last weekend the beach–warm and sunny with Geo, Jennifer & Fanny visiting–lunch at Local Ocean Seafood (tuna season–yum!!) Monday dawned dreary and the week was full of rain and cold but had this blaze of color in it: the red season. Ahhhh. Kristin Kuhn’s nice show closes this weeked at Bush Barn Art Gallery and […]
Studio Morning
Just a note on my practice of “two-fers:” Target sells these Alvar Alto knock-offs and I needed a little table in the studio for coffee that isn’t on the work table so I took it to the studio this morning, put on some yellow paint and “pulled” a couple of “prints (3 actually). I’m getting […]
Art Week, Day Five and Goodbye
Well our days of work and play have drawn to a close. Yesterday we worked up until the last minute: and then we had a nice lunch, swept the place out, cut some roses and had our “opening”: Ann brought some old hangers and when Kay got there she made them into a sculpture! Mostly […]
