Well the last few years on the friday after Thanksgiving, LeeAnn and I have gone to Greenbaum’s Quilted Forest (our wonderful local quilting store) to get our “Turkey Pops”!! These are Tootsie rolls each with a little felt turkey on it and when you choose one and remove the turkey–VOILA–there’s a real treat, a little […]

Being Thankful…
Well the day is over, the turkey carcass cleared away, the left-overs lingering on…but what fun. I’m always thankful for our terrific family, and never more than this year. They are beautiful, talented and funny. Most of them can cook, and those that don’t are good at pouring wine! George, Jennifer & Fanny arrived first […]
Portland Friday
Drizzle, chilly, overcast. R a meeting all day, me to Powell’s and a bit of Christmas shopping. We agreed to meet at 3:00 at the museum and after perusing a show of early photos of the Columbia Gorge we grabbed a coffee and met Zach for dinner at The Farm Cafe. Yummy handmade ravioli for […]
Pelicans
At the beach last weekend we noticed hoards of brown pelicans, Pelecanus occidentalis californicus, in the Bay. At high tide they were on all of the logs and there was even a floating bit of wood with four pelicans going for a ride. By Sunday at almost high tide they were all gone: Brown pelicans […]
Harry Widman: The Proofs
Last week the proofs arrived for Roger’s book on Harry Widman to be published in 2009 in conjunction with the upcoming show at the Hallie Ford Museum. Since I’m never likely to write a book, I particularly enjoy living vicariously and sitting over dinner looking at the proofs. What fun.

Roger wanted to borrow this painting for the upcoming Widman show (opening at the Hallie Ford Museum at the end of January, […]
Art is Where You Find It??
But in this case it was site specific art made by us on the table at Bread & Ink. I made the drawing and my companions made the water rings. A collaboration.
A Portland Day
Went up the other day to see Jennifer about some graphics, and to see how Will has grown. I really like this guy. We went for a coffee to “little t american baker” on SE Division for a good coffee but the best scone I’ve had in many a month. People in Will’s age group […]
Harry Widman: Planning the show.
Harry and Mardy came down the other day and we went into the very interesting basement/storage/work area of the museum. David has built models of all the galleries which makes planning the shows a bit easier. This was a chance for Harry and Mardy to begin to really visualize how the show will look in […]
Monsieur Obama
I thought I wanted to keep politics out of “On the Way”, but in fact I can’t. My friend Lynn is living in France and sends along these images of French newspapers:
