Although the groundhog told us the truth about more winter to come, today is one of those Oregon days.
By April when these things are brown and all over the driveway I think of cutting them down, but today…today…they look like spring incarnate.
The corsican hellebores, which are pests and grow too big, even look nice on this fresh morning. Gardens in spring make me happy–by summer, too much work, but in spring…ahhhhh.

A tantaliing taste of spring! Our camelias, which were blooming by this time last year, are still a couple weeks out from flowering. Interesting to contemplate the variable…with a record-breaking 15 feet of snow on the ground at Government Camp.
Yow – these are gorgeous. You guys are way ahead of us – it was 29 last night. Things are starting to shoot in the garden, but we have a long way to go.
