Here’s a vacation blog day…no art today…only family. Sometimes I have to post stuff just my family wants to see since they are my most loyal readers!! We had a great Thanksgiving and much laughing and carrying on and eating good food. (There is nothing like a family that can cook!!) Highlights besides food included Mom being able to be with us, a prayer for Frank Mahon who left us this fall, Sam making it down in spite of band activities, Em & Fin as hilarious as usual, my beautiful sisters-in-law, Gabrielle racing in from NYC (and thinking she’s been hanging out at Court Street a lot since she knows where the tupperware is), Zach making bread and rolls from an old recipe, the beginning of the Roger Hull birthday season festival (he believes his birthday season extends until 12th night which gives us plenty of opportunities to celebrate.) Actually, there was no downside to this holiday. Here are the images and they aren’t the best–maybe I was moving too fast…
Brothers and Fin and Mom with her favorite–pickled herring..
I had noted the first White House State dinner menu included collard greens, and after I burned the roasted brussel sprouts I whipped out a bunch of collard greens and did them up with fresh lemon juice–yum:
the table was set with place cards and everyone assumed their place:
First course was LeeAnn’s wonderful squash soup with peanut butter–spicy and smooth, followed by Marie’s mashed potatoes and the usual stuff.
Marie always mashes the potatoes on the floor for leverage, so here’s a shot from 2007 and from this year:
LeeAnn made Mom a lap quilt from a piece of Marimekko fabric, and it was a hit:
I like to think of our nice day and all the nice days celebrated in all the possible ways. Friday though, it was all about quilts:

This looks like a truly wonderful day! Thanks for the pictures for those of us far away in fact, but close by in spirit.
A grand day indeed. Thanks for all your efforts before and after. We enjoyed the B&B and loved the company. Oh, yeah, the food was really great, too.
Happy Birthday Roger!
