Wow. What a moment. Today we paid off the mortgage and the moment looked like this:
We bought this house on Court Street 30 years ago when we were young and buoyant and ready to do some work:
We removed the aluminum siding, changed the front doors, gardened, reworked the interior and put on an addition. Today we took down a big check and paid it off. It’s all our for sure, but really it’s been ours since November of 1980. And here it is today when we got home from the bank…a beautiful summer day:
A toast is in order…

My glass is lifted to you! This is very cool! If I pay off my thirty year mortgage, it’ll be 2027 and I will be 83. It could happen, but it’s still a long way off. (Salem house would have been paid off in 2012. Oh, well…)
