The State of Oregon quilt…

I’m interested in an Indian form of quilting called “kantha” practiced by Bengali women(“urban and rural” so the internet says.)  It began as a way to make quilts from old fabrics…layers and layers stitched together for reuse.  The fabrics would be spread on the ground, smoothed and loosely sewn together.  Then the women could carry the piece around with them, working a little whenever they had the chance.  And that is exactly what I’m doing!  The stitch used is a simple running stitch in many combinations:

  1. I don’t know if I really have the patience for the TRUE kantha stitches, but am maybe aiming for an adaptation…

  2. I am an real lover of kantha art.being a lover of this art i use to help the poor kantha workers.not wonder to say that i am holding 2000 approx workers who works under my supervision.Now so many varities of kantha bedsheets,scarves ,stole and muflers are available in stocks.
