George Johanson at PNCA

Up to PNCA this evening to hear George talk about “Seven Decades as a Painter” at the PNCA alumni evening:

There was a reception

and all of George’s paintings to contemplate…and then the lights went down and we were welcomed by college president Tom Manley

and then it was George’s turn:

George graduated from the “Museum School” (as it was then called) in 1950, and taught there from 1955 to 1980 and his unique position as alum and faculty made for good stories, along with the interesting slides.  The audience was thoroughly informed and entertained for 90 minutes.  At the end of the discourse George showed some images of his recent (2010) portrait of RPH, who found THIS part of the talk particularly entertaining…

  1. Very nice! We caught the Oregon Art Beat segment on George as well. Thanks for alerting us to it. Jennifer
