Kate Speckman and I are curating a show of quilts at Bush Barn Art Center opening September 9th (“Bits and Pieces: Intuitive Quilting from the Pacific Northwest”, which will feature three quilts by the Gee’s Bend Quilt Collective, quilts by 5 invited quilters, and quilts by 6 juried entrants. To that end I’ve begun rounding up some of the “invitational quilts.” We went up to Seattle this weekend and picked up quilts from LeeAnn (LeeAnn Ericksen Decker) and Sally (Dorothy LeBoeuf). They are gorgeous:
LeeAnn’s first
and another one not in the show but was the result of a group collaborative…everybody made a square with red background and some sort of a cross
then a detail of Sally’s corduroy quilt and the cat quilt
We had a chance to play a little
and then LeeAnn reminded us that 11-11-11 is national corduroy appreciation day…
and then on to Tacoma for Julia’s wedding on a beautiful evening…
and golfers…Chambers Bay will be the site of the US Open in four years…the course is beautiful and over looks Puget Sound
Beautiful quilts! Nice wedding and golf course. The view is gorgeous!
What a fantastic show. I regret that I won’t be seeing it up close & personal. You have some great talents to promote.
I’ll try to put up some photos as we go with the show so you can see the quilts.
I wish I wish I didn’t live so far away because I’d love to see this show. so happy you’re including that beauty by LeeAnn!
