Minto Island Growers

Salemites!  Want a great lunch?  Take River Road out to Brown’s Island Road, hang a right and follow the signs to the Minto Island Growers farm stand TERRIFIC lunch cart.  Elizabeth Miller has been farming out on Minto and doing CSA boxes with gorgeous certified organic produce.  This summer her Mom has spearheaded this lunch menu from heaven…salade Nicoise, pulled pork sandwiches, and other delectables..and don’t miss the terrific MIG iced tea..a blend they make (…but not the least weirdly fruity like so much you get these days.)  Also homemade gingerale, etc.  Too much too put here, but take a look and you won’t be sorry.  The cart closes for the season on September 30th so you’d better hurry!  While lunching you can also pick up yummy green beans, beets, potatoes…well, you know, produce!

You fill out a menu and pay here:

and then the cart takes over

on this particular day Sally made our salads herself…WITH anchovies of course…

and they have a number of pleasant tables so even on a hot day the breezes blow and the field views are fun

after lunch I bought a pint of berries and we just munched on them for dessert…they had been picked about an hour before we got there and it was like tasting all of summer in one bite…

  1. We have taken our company there all season. The views of the fields of vegetables and flowers with the hills in the distance is just lovely. We watched a big family come just for the fruit milkshakes in novel flavor combinations.

Be aware they are closed on Monday. We went down hungry one day and were disappointed, but chatted with one of the young farmers and learned a bit about their operations.

  2. I had thought I’d make it there when I was in Salem in July, but it didn’t happen. Those salads and the bread looked wonderful – as did the gorgeous strawberries!
