Puzzling

The year began “on the edge” at the beach, with a beautiful clear and bright day…sun pouring into the beach house, shining off the bay…it felt like California…

But that was only New Year’s Day, and quickly it became the usual Oregon winter…

So we stayed cozy in front of the fire…

and I got out the big Gee’s Bend quilt puzzle and started in…1000 pieces and it defied the usual method of making the edge first because there were 40 little “quilts” to put together…

I had to use a tray as a tool…

I was obsessed and did little else as the storm raged around the house…

What fun to contemplate these quilts as a puzzler and a quilter both…but the puzzle bug had me in it’s clutches and all month Sidney and I have been working like fiends. We started with my Christmas gift puzzle and moved on to some of his favorites…

But these are too easy for our skill level so I think we’ll move on…

Or maybe this one from Portland artist Deb Stoner…

hmmm….it’s a puzzle…

  2. Puzzles for January are the perfect projects. Thank you for the colorful and fun start to the new year.
Sidney and Vivien are the bonuses.

  3. I love it that you have a dedicated place for a puzzle, or two…and a team! Great progress shots, especially the quilts. I just got the sample box of the new Pomegranate 500 piece puzzle of one of my favorite photographs, “Chaos”. Such a wonderful company to work with, and I just love learning about the puzzle makers amongst us. Thanks for being one! (oh, and agreed, the Bill Rhoades show was wonderful!!)
