This is Roger and me twirling my new desk around, but I’m not sure who that big hand belongs to. And WHERE was that big hand when we really needed a hand??? Update: Yesterday Roger and I put together 6 “Billys” and a “Benno”. How, you ask? We bribed ourselves by agreeing if we just […]

Taking a Breather…
My new filing cabinet, with the incredibly annoying name of “ERIK”, won’t go together properly so I’m giving in and hiring Paul to come put together the 6 remaining shelves and fix Erik. More on that later. But for today, I took down Christmas and just decided I needed a breath of spring. Spring has […]
The “Jonas”…
Well I’m pretty happy tonight. Although we are totally collapsed and there’s still 600 pounds of stuff waiting…it could take weeks… Meanwhile, here’s the old desk: and here’s the new desk: Okay–it won’t look this clean in a week…but at least I have photo evidence…
A Swedish sort of day…
Rain rain rain. January. Get organized. Went to IKEA today. We loaded about 700 pounds of desks and shelving into the Swedish car with the Swedish wife, and headed south. Here’s my new desk and file cabinet and here’s the shelving for the new office suite upstairs: I think we’re kind of hoping that while […]
The Tides Rule…
At the beach the tides rule. A series of wind and rain storms kept us inside over the New Year’s weekend, but each day I ventured down to Josephine Young park (a few yards out our back door) to check the Bay. On New Year’s day there was a plus 8’1″ high tide. Combined with […]
New Year’s “On the Edge”…
Our tradition for a bunch of years has been to start on the edge of the continent, seeking light and total relaxation. We were a small band this year, but merry: 2009 has held amazing things, sad things, funny things, creative things. Like all the years I guess. Here’s to one more of the same. […]
Happy New Year!!!!!
Hard to imagine it is already 2010–there was a decade that blew right by me. But, here we go. A year of changes coming at our house, a year of challenges and some fun. Our hopes are creative…time for writing and art making; some gardening will have to occur (Gilbert House Garden Tour, May 28, […]
Reunion
I’m certain Christmas Day was a day of wonderful and meaningful reunions across the land–home from the war, home from college, etc. In my small world there was a tiny but delightful reunion. In 1991 I opened a restaurant and bought some earrings that became my trademark..I wore them everyday. Once I lost one and […]
The Day Before Christmas
I woke up early to get organized and make my list. Elves arrived on the porch bringing gifts: I finished my wrapping and before setting off on my long string of errands I walked around the yard and noticed a sign of spring!!! While out and about every one seemed to be in the Christmas […]
Solstice…
Today the darkest, shortest day–the longest night. Here is a look out our front door at 9:30 a.m.–living up to the depths of winter here in Oregon: As I begin to look forward to the increasing light (starting tomorrow!)I just turned all the Christmas lights on for cheer. I think it’s working.
