Today I finished step one, two and three of the next quilt (or now I’m thinking the next 2 quilts):
Cut up the shirts
and remove all the buttons:
stop for a coffee
fold up the fabric and make all the left-over seams into some cool looking balls (I don’t have ANY idea what you do with these if you don’t have a cat)
and begin to cut the fabric into squares. It will be a baby quilt with mostly blue and white stripes, with a bit of orange thrown in. The squares I’m cutting are 2 1/2 inches. It might take a while. If I don’t post for another month you’ll know why

You might want to check out LockerHooking. It is a craft that you use fabric strips and weave/crochet them onto a rug canvas. It makes rugs, chair pads, etc. I think these balls of seams would be Perfect for this. I have completed a few small projects, but have not had the patience to do large projects, but the rugs are beautiful.

Thanks for the info Lee. There’s a cool video on locker hooking on untube–not sure if these seam strips are wide enough, but it might be worth a try. My other option is to gather as many balls together as I can and bag them and give them to Goodwill for some rug maker to find as a bonanza!
Ooo – can’t wait to see the finished quilt Bonnie. I love the idea of using shirts.
Katie I think your friend of the many circles could do something with these balls of seams!
I covet your shirts/fabric. I can hardly wait to see the results.
