Last night was the big fund-raising “Clay Ball” for Salem Art Association. In these hard times for non-profits it was more important than ever for this community to come out to support the arts…and the place was packed. We arrived a little late to the silent auction area just in time to see the end of the day out the big west windows
I donated a landscape…a mono print with collage called “A Line of Trees”. This is a landscape loving crowd and I was delighted when a bit of a bidding war got going:
But here were the real creations of the evening, two brand new sons of two artist Moms, Sean on the left and Sawyer on the right, two beautiful boys (that really underlined our sense of community!):
The tables were all filled and had wonderful centerpieces by artist Amy Sayer Schwartz, the dinner was amazingly quite fantastic (I forgot to take a picture of my terrific vegetarian pasta and butter lettuce salad)
and the live auction began with the usual suspects
I didn’t win a clay ball, I did have a GREAT time, and they raised some money for programs and events for the coming year. Enough “arts reporting”…off to the studio!
