“Lucinda Parker: Force Fields”

We dropped in to the Hallie Ford Museum of Art today to see the progress on the installation of the exhibition of Lucinda Parker’s paintings.  R’s cousin Lisa was visiting overnight and though she has her copy of R’s book on the work of painter Lucinda Parker,

she won’t be able to be at the opening of the exhibition and Parker’s lecture on Saturday, January 19th.  (Lisa teaches in the Law School at Rutgers in New Jersey and the cousins grew up together in Wallace, Idaho…)  Lisa was delighted to have the chance to see the exhibition as it was being installed…

The earliest work in the show is from Parker’s high school years including this self portrait, and a fully confident river painting foreshadowing later work…

The paintings are large and vibrant and look great in the museum’s varied set of spaces…

A few explanatory comments from the curator…

Everything isn’t up yet,

but the show is gorgeous

Lucinda Parker’s lecture will be at 5:00 p.m. January 19th, 2019,  in the Paulus lecture hall in the law school at Willamette University, with the opening to follow at the museum.  Hope to see you there!  The exhibition is up until the end of March though so you have plenty of time to come visit.

Bye bye Lisa…great to see you…

  1. A really fine posting, Bonnie. It’s a shame that Al and I will be in Centralia on the l9th for the delayed Christmas gathering with family. But I sure do want to see this show. Compelling! Ginny
