Just some words from other people for you today…William Stafford (thanks Jennifer)
You Reading This, Be Ready
Starting here, what do you want to remember?
How sunlight creeps along a shining floor?
What scent of old wood hovers, what softened
sound from outside fills the air?
Will you ever bring a better gift for the world
than the breathing respect that you carry
wherever you go right now? Are you waiting
for time to show you some better thoughts?
When you turn around, starting here, lift this
new glimpse that you found: carry into evening
all that you want from this day. This interval you spent
reading or hearing this, keep it for life–
What can anyone give you greater than now,
starting here, right in this room, when you turn around?
(artwork top to bottom: Jon Colburn, Tom Cramer, Harry Widman, George Johanson, Clyde McGraw)
and from this nice book (poet Mary Oliver’s words and her partner Molly Malone Cook’s photographs)
comes this phrase…as Oliver describes the attention Cook gives to her subjects and to people in her life…”Attention without feeling…is only a report.”

The poem is lovely….so are your pics…
That is so true.
I reread George’s first book of poetry today and got lost in feelings of nostalgia. Poetry can touch such a deep spot.
Love what you wrote today. So true and fun to see what you saw!
Loved your little art tour and lovely words. You are the best.
Thanks, Bonnie. I needed just that.
Loved the poem and photo.. maybe this social distancing has been a positive thing in if one will choose to stop to smell the roses… today’s world likes to keep us from doing that. That peony still makes me gasp with wonder at its beauty.
That poem! Thank you.
William Stafford, Mary Oliver, such thoughtful beauty.
