The first frost is due this weekend and the leaves are falling fast. I got my winter coat out of the bag to go to a lecture tonight. There are signs everywhere of the changing season: Wonder where they store all this stuff for the rest of the year?

A Moment of Silence…
Howard writes frequently on his own blog about celebrating the small, reducing one’s carbon foot-print, etc., all of which I totally agree with. So I was particularly sad this week to note the passing of a favorite little cottage in Cutler City, replaced by an enormous (relatively speaking) PINK modular. Maybe tonight with the stock […]
Cosmic Cottage
The lovely Rhoades family weasn’t in residence this weekend but we checked Ella’s progress on the mosaic she’s working on. This seems pretty ambitious to me, but under close inspection I think she’s having fun all the way:
Beach Weekend
We went to the beach this weekend where it was cool and stormy…certainly felt like fall. I love the sun-bleached summer beach, but there’s something nice about the stormy gloomy fall–if you can have a coffee!! Wall Flowers
The roses by the studio door are still blooming. Hurt my knee this weekend and can’t do much, so decided to paint the roses onto the wall:

Living the Creative Life: Corrie Loomis-Dietz
Corrie was a photographer first, then a painter. She makes huge photo-transfers and then paints them. She lives in an old house they have almost finished restoring: Today Corrie hosted a few artists for a brunch to welcome the fall. The food was good, the talk lively. Of course the highlight was seeing Corrie’s studio. […]
Time Based Art???
At the beach house you can pretty much do what you want because…well…it’s a beach house. A few years ago I traced the shadow of the sun coming though the window and making shadow play with the stuff on the sill and, eventually, I painted it blue (the yellow stuff I painted on in 1992 […]
Living the Creative Life: Bonnie Hull
Or trying to anyway. Well I moved into my new studio on Monday and I’ve been working there everyday hoping to be struck with inspiration–knowing as we all do that work begets work. The light is nice but the place isn’t really my own yet. It’s a little cottage, slated for demolition next year, which […]
