Sunday…our neighbor’s apple tree is collapsing branch by branch due to a too heavy crop of apples… so R is lightening the load on our side by making some apple sauce today…they are gravensteins, an early apple, so he thinks the sauce will be tasty… Zach and Ashton both took an interest in cooking at […]

Can’t get Away from Summer (PHEW!)
Yesterday the sky was soooo blue. Just pure blue. I love summer. I love lettuce. I love watching Alex work… and I LOVE “Play Me I’m Yours”…11 pianos located all around Salem for people to play…it ends Sunday the 29th and I’m very sad to see it go. But now we start the wedding countdown…one […]

Remember that song? We do. Here’s R (the tall guy) at Hayden Lake Idaho Carolyn on the left, Jennifer on the raft, Chris on the right, maybe about 1954, but you can still almost feel the cold lake water on your skin , NO?? Meanwhile back in the midwest, Driveway Bon is gearing up for […]
Summers Past…
Consumed as we are by the flurry of summer activity around here, it’s kind of nice to check our long ago past activities…me as an “only child” (which didn’t last too long…) up near Ishpeming, MI… R helping his Dad white wash the basement for a TV room, with sister Carolyn possibly helping and Piatt […]

And now…on to weddings…
Peninsula Park and the North Star Ballroom will be the venues for the August, 2012, wedding of Zach Hull and Ashton Edmonds. Yesterday the “food committee” met to check out the venue… and then repaired to St. Jack to see a little mouse made out of pate an onion tart and a bunch of other […]
1658 Court Street, Historical View Continues…
The porch history post got me looking at old photos, and so…to keep the thought going, here is the historical –mid-historical—and current view of 1658 Court Street. Photos do not exist of the rear of the house when it was on State Street, or at the corner of 17th and Court (it was moved twice…sort […]
The Treasure…
I was sorting my Mom’s things this weekend and at the bottom of the box were the pill boxes. She always carried saccharin and an aspirin or two, a hankie, I had brought her the silver ones from Italy, but I didn’t remember this one so I popped it open, expecting to find a couple […]
