The Sublime and the Ridiculous…

Anna’s tree in full bloom today, after three warm days.  Spring is here.  Anna’s house backs on the creek right at the bridge and some very lazy person forgot their shopping cart today.  But no matter, the tree must be gorgeous from inside Anna’s house.

REALLY the Last One!

Because it’s gone.  I read in the paper that a new “mixed use” building will begin to rise on the site immediately.  Judging by what is going up around town at the moment, it won’t be a pretty sight.  As Doug said though–it is interesting to think of what the world was like and what […]

Nearly Gone

It was a beautiful day in the Capital City today–bright sun that raises your spirits.  On the way to the studio I stopped by the Riverfront to check on the warehouse.  It’s nearly gone now:

Warehouse Fixation….

I know this is getting kind of boring, but I can’t seem to let it go.  Today I went down to the Riverfront Park to get a view of the river side of the building, you know, the side where we’d have had a view from our studios…

Goodbye to the Frye

This just in from Bruce–one of his gorgeous night images of the Frye warehouse: In a few hours I’ll go get a photo of what’s left of it today.

Dan Frye Warehouse departs

I’ve always loved the Dan Frye warehouse–built in the late 1800’s.  I could always imagine it converted to something wonderful (studios came to mind…) but the city has always seen it as an eyesore.  It and the White Seed building are the only two remaiining buildings on the riverfront that relate to the way Salem […]
