We left the Johansons’ and went over to Sellwood to see Cary Doucette’s show at 12X16 Gallery. These pieces are all cardboard and he thinks of them as templates, maquettes, for future wood or metal sculpture:
this one is big–as tall as a mantle (which is what it makes me think of).
The simplicity of these is so appealing, and then I love anything with tape in it.
He says he was inspired by Louside Nevelson and you can see that in this corner piece.
And then, after a quick trip to New Seasons, we headed home–5:30 and a good sunset!
