Summer Reset

August already???  What about all the summer stuff I was going to do and all the posts I was going to write…

In deciding I write about Portland artists too much, we went (in July) to see DE May’s show at PDX  Gallery and across the street to see Natalie Laswell’s piece at Blackfish Gallery…both Salem stalwarts.  I was going to write about the work so you could get there in time to see it, but alas…summer intervened.

Dan had some books of ideas at PDX as well as beautiful finished pieces, but the idea pieces seem so alive to me…

Natalie had a piece at Blackfish Gallery in the graduating student show and it was a delightful piece you had to “read”

Did you know the Hilton owns the Pearl now with the Hampton Inn and Suites AND the new “Canopy” (is that kind of like 2 Starbucks in the same block…?)

oh for the days of the Quarter Saw…

The Boston cousins came and we all went to a wedding…

R and I headed to the beach to beat the heat

I realized I had gotten away with out my favorite pen so had to draw with a ball point from the bottom of my purse…

I gave up the struggle with this nine-patch and put it away for awhile…maybe in the fall…

oops…

I FOUND my pen (also in the bottom of my purse) so made some left-handed drawings to illustrate Rex Amos’ right-handed poems (he’s left-handed…get it?)…

and we came home to piles of mail, the need to water the garden.  A nice brunch at Heidi’s

and then…clearing the brain at the CARWASH!  Yay…

a yummy straciatella at Dolce Mama’s (Hi Dayna)

Salem is changing…

Two 98 degree days ahead…roll on August…stay cool friends.

  1. I enjoy all your artist post, even if they are mostly Portland folks. I like that photo of your 9 patch blocks, that is just how it is somedays when trying to put something together.

    1. Oh Deb my head is in the baby quilt…will post on that soon. I’ve started quilting already. Our baby girl is due December 7th…the nine-patch will have to wait! xo
