Do we have any real idea what our world will be as we slog through this corona-spring? What our world will be when this is over?
Nope. It’s unfolding all right, but we can’t make out the outline of our collective future…at least it isn’t visible from here in the far west.
So what do we do…? Well, over here, we talk about delicious things we might make, and things we loved as kids…ever hear of Shedd’s Sauce?
R’s been talking about this stuff off and on for years and I looked it up only to discover it is no longer made…but, of course, there is a recipe on line so I made some and we had an avocado, tomato, bay shrimp salad with Shedd’s Sauce for lunch. It was pretty good (and thank you to Howard for getting the horseradish to make this possible!)
and of course at our house it’s all about the right dish for the right…well…dish.
1/2 cup “good quality mayonnaise”
2 tblspoons horseradish sauce
2 tsp “good quality ketchup” (catsup?)
1/4 tsp each paprika and salt
1/8 tsp oregano
dash of black pepper and cayenne
the “Taste of the 1950’s…?”
Then our neighborhood walk as the suggested exercise for people in our age group…walk and talk…even though today was Zoom exercise day for R…
and the walk was lovely…
but you know how the streets of NY City and Tokyo and Paris are empty? So what is up at 17th and State? Constant traffic all day long.
Just a few shout-outs…

Thanks for the recipe, going to give it a try!
It’s actually pretty good…a mild punch…
Please wave when you walk by…feeling a little lonesome. I almost would like to have a husband.😱

Don’t be too rash…we walked by yesterday…will wave tomorrow…I agree that doing this alone would be pretty solitary…
Mom’s favorite was Durkee’s Famous Sauce, which is evidently still made! It’s basically mayo and mustard.
I remember the name though not the taste…
this makes me want to buy, or at least put on a list, chocolate chips–for those cookies i used to help my mom make while eating as much dough as i could get away with==oh and deviled ham and spam == thanks for the shout-out, bon–
Xxxooo
The sauce at Bob’s around here was the best…seems like it was mayo, ketchup and dill pickle relish. But i think i will give Shedd’s a try. Thanks for the kick start!
