True North, The Wild Pear…and on…
There are beauties about living in a small place, partly born out in being able to know the people who do fun things around you. In the last few days I’ve been able to appreciate Salem from various angles. On Saturday we went to the CCTV studio to be the audience for our favorite band […]
Wild Women 2015
The annual Wild Women show opened at the River Gallery last night with Sloy’s paintings shining out like beacons… this one is called “opposite dimples” and there’s a nice article about the making of this painting in the current Salem Weekly. One advantage of Sloy’s paintings is they are BIG in a room of small […]
Ready for Christmas
An ALMOST wordless Wednesday…I survey the house and see we are ready…have a lovely holiday readers…xo
‘Tis the Season…
Even if you aren’t exactly in the Christmas mood, stuff just starts coming into the house…Ellen’s yummy fruitcake? Yep… ho.ho.ho… Better go write some cards…now that I have the stamps…

What a week…I narrowly survived the festivities! It’s been foggy…R got this amazing picture the other day…down by the river… I got a tour of the new Children’s Room remodel at the Salem Public Library… was on a panel for city club talking about interesting places in Salem, places of community…(with stellar panelists Sarah Evans, […]
The End of Fall
I haven’t been slacking exactly, except maybe for reporting things here… What a fall it has been…kind of a whirlwind of activity including birthdays… new studio, sewing, family, art, writing, house projects…THANKSGIVING! …a walking boy… family and feasts are good… and the END of the fall fix-up! Yay! On we go…
One Fabulous Year!
Last week was a family milestone…young master Hull celebrated his first birthday, and we celebrated with him. My brother Bru made him a card… and the Hull/Decker tradition of the silver cup continues… it was festive… Doug and Marie brought Finley’s Thomas train… Asher came and brought a gift for Sidney, (which he helped unwrap)… […]
Open Studios, Studio at the Mill
I took a new little studio this fall to do a drawing project away from my home studio. It was very economical, in an historic structure, plenty of parking, 4 minutes from home. It has been a pleasant and quiet place to work so far…and even though I share the space, I rarely coincide with […]
Barry Pelzner, Katherine Ace, Anna Fidler
The lost is found…in this case photos. Saturday, after listening to George speak at Augen Gallery, we went next door to the Froelick Gallery to see Barry Pelzner’s knockout pieces…ball point pen on a good piece of paper: dense, visceral, wonderful…simple and complex together. Katherine Ace uses pattern and texture to great advantage… …and then […]
