Some left-over shots that didn’t fit in any summer post, but which I liked anyway…starting with this REAL view from Irene and Jack’s terrace viewing west: (and look at this very slick way of blocking the western sun…just move the reed screen on the track…voila!) BRRRRR…
Which seems like a silly thing to say in mid-August. Escaping the heat in the valley was successful, but now we’re wearing three sweaters and shivering. Our bike ride after dinner through the quiet streets revealed one basketball player, and a deer. The bay was beautiful this evening after a day of hard work back […]
The Rubber Duckie Caper
This spring we had break-in at the beach house. It was a pretty idiosyncratic burglar who stole strange things. One thing the fiend took though was ALL of our rubber duckies. It has been a well-known tragedy among our familiars. So Sunday morning when I looked out the kitchen window here’s what I saw: 12 […]
Friday Night Sunset
It’s hot in the valley this weekend. We came over yesterday and after supper walked to the bay for a sunset view. We saw two kids playing, we thought. Turned out it was ONE kid playing and one kid talking on the cell phione. Goodness… …and the sunset was lovely…
The Collaboration Quilt…
Kay’s been working on the collaboration quilt and now I’m taking it to the beach for a few days to work on it. Our deadline is approaching, but I think we’ll make it!
PS3 Update…

Barbara brought a journal she found at the Goodwill it got me thinking of some small collages Paula found a color range that looked good and started working (you can see her foot and her shadow…) Sadie painted […]

The State of Oregon quilt…
I’m interested in an Indian form of quilting called “kantha” practiced by Bengali women(“urban and rural” so the internet says.) It began as a way to make quilts from old fabrics…layers and layers stitched together for reuse. The fabrics would be spread on the ground, smoothed and loosely sewn together. Then the women could carry […]
What a weekend…
Up to Portland for another celebratory retirement dinner for R…this one all wonderful Indian food made by Marie. Yum. After a sleep-over Roger, Doug and Emma got up early to ride the Portland Bridge Pedal…5 bridges, 11.5 miles. Of course they took off from home so the whole event round trip was 21 miles!! Doug […]
HAND QUILTING…
After watering the white garden this morning, I was sitting on the deck quilting away on the State of Oregon quilt and musing about why I like hand quilting so much. I got out the first quilt I hand quilted and looked at it remembering that as I started, I didn’t know any of the […]
