George Johanson has been painting Roger’s portrait. The painting will be unveiled on May 7th here in Salem at the “Hullabaloo” celebrating Roger’s 40 years of teaching. Yesterday we went up to Portland to check progress on the painting. Since I’m sworn to secrecy, I had to, well—OBSCURE– some aspects of the painting. Like all […]

Nice Day/Car Wash
When everybody else heads out for parks and wineries and the beach, I head to the car wash–an ALWAYS entertaining few minutes: The shot on the right looks like a Motherwell painting!!
Where I’ve Been lately…
In a word…”STUDIO.” My show opens May 7th, and today I found out they added a new wall to the gallery. As the first Artist in Residence it’s kind of a race to see how much work I can produce in the allotted time. Stay tuned for that. Those of you who know me know […]

I’m in the midst of “Birthday Week.” Today is the actual day. (It seems a long time ago when I was born in Evanston, Illinois…but really it WAS a long time ago.) So far this week the celebrations have included the following confectionery moments: and here’s the lucky little me:
The Bees…
After a fun sunny Saturday in Portland we were heading home when we saw a lady standing in the middle of 21st ST NW taking a photo–oblivious of traffic. “What could she be photographing??” said I. Bees. There was a swarm of bees on the telephone pole:
