Today we met at the PNAA (or maybe the PNAAA), Pacific Northwest Artists Archive, at Willamette University. Archivist Mary McKay entered into a dialog with representatives from the Hallie Ford Museum and the Salem Art Association (and one interested citizen–me) about the matter of archiving a life’s work. Weekend…
And here was a weekend I REALLY needed to have a change of venue. First we needed to celebrate Susan’s birthday… and then I had to add my Cece duck to the pile…”top duck,” you might say, and then the wonderful calming moment of doing the dishes. There’s no dishwasher humming away in our beach […]
Farewell to Henk…
Henk’s off to Holland soon to do business, to paint, to see family…and here’s his little carry-case for art supplies…(yes, it’s 4 feet tall…) we looked at some drawings and we checked a new still life just underway checked out the real still life and had some lunch. Safe travels, friend.
Alexandra Opie at the Hallie Ford
Went to see Alexandra Opie’s new work at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art and I thought it a stunning show… the beautiful, sepia, large format photos are playing off of her interest in old photographs and her feeling of the unsettling mystery of landscape…all used to wonderful effect in this show…really a must see…here […]

The Treasure…
I was sorting my Mom’s things this weekend and at the bottom of the box were the pill boxes. She always carried saccharin and an aspirin or two, a hankie, I had brought her the silver ones from Italy, but I didn’t remember this one so I popped it open, expecting to find a couple […]
A Salem sort of day…

Cortona…
We’re going to Cortona in May..R will be “leading” an alumni tour of some 40 people… He did the same in 2008 and it will be fun to get back to Italy. For the people in the group Roger has started a weekly blog to show them what we’ll see and get them in the […]
Oregon Spring…
You want to know how gray and rainy it is here? (and then YOU say “How gray and rainy is it?”) THIS is NOT a black and white photo and was taken mid-afternoon…eek… Weatherman says maybe a little sun tomorrow…we’ll be blinded!
Henk Pander and Roger Hull, a Conversation
Sunday was the last day for Henk Pander’s splendid retrospective “Memory and Modern Life” at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art. At 2:00 Henk and Roger, mostly Henk of course, talked about Henk’s work, idea methods. it was a packed house…standing room only…and pretty interesting…the crowd was responsive and asked lots of questions: and the […]
