A memorably unpleasant day today, during which they sky provided an equally memorable meditation…

Today is Thursday…
But for the first time in a few years we will not be heading up for “Sidney day” because he starts full-time preschool today. Last week we had our last of such days, and though Sidney will still be a delightful part of our lives, the weekly conversation about this and that is complete. Since […]
City Day
Saturday we left home early to hear George Johanson talk about his new show at Augen Gallery (in the DeSoto Building)…the paintings are lovely and lively, as is the painter. I particularly liked this self portrait…(just above George’s head in the upper left of the painting is Louis Bunce’s life mask, which hangs in George’s […]
What to Do in June…
Well the month is half gone…the light remains until 9:00 p.m….there’s lots of time to do stuff. Things comes into the house as shares … there are the activities of house-holding… play… …oh…draw… sew… look at art… send off the last Circle 8 drawing book… Draw… and draw… and it isn’t even summer yet…ahhhh.
The Week Between…
Wasn’t that nice?? I just loved the whole week nothing at all to do…well, stuff to do for sure, but without the need to FOCUS…as I’m always reminding myself to do. When we got to the beach I noted some of the poems that arrive occasionally on the fridge… so we took it to heart…two […]
The Block a Month Club
Kate and I agreed to do the Moda block-a-month challenge mostly as a way to see each other at least once a month and have a coffee! We picked up our first block pattern and fabric Friday and then sat in the sun a drank coffee…and then R and I came away to the beach […]
Cutler City…the Summer ends….
Okay, maybe you’ve had enough of Cutler City…but if not, here’s a little more….the Bay House Restaurant is the structure at the far right…Cutler City Cafe in those days… Here’s the original Crab Pot under construction… and we used to have a dock back in the day…(Tyko once told me it was to load timber…but […]
Persimmon Chutney and Sunsets
From the sublime to the sublime. We came to the beach on New Year’s day with the car full of projects and books and instruments (well…a ukulele anyway) AND the last few persimmons from Richard and Juli’s big persimmon harvest this late fall. R wanted to make persimmon chutney so we looked up recipes on […]
Catch-Up
There is nothing more numbing than a long narrative of what somebody else has been doing…sort of like an over-long Christmas letter…but images, well, always good for some of us. So, images only, this is what my week has held…
Sunday Fun….
A varied sort of day today…art/babies/friends/family…picked up my Madras show work from Coralee and got to see the piece she bought, installed…”Tron”…looking good… Downtown to catch Sue-Del McCulloch and Katy McFadden talk about their work on view at Waterstone Gallery… but I couldn’t get past Katy’s beautiful and expressive hands… Or Alexander’s cautious flirtation… A […]
